A presente obra reúne as palestras proferidas no âmbito de duas iniciativas organizadas oportunamente pela APODIT sobre o tema das projecções da epidemia da COVID- 19 nas relações laborais: uma conferência on line, realizada no dia 6 de maio de 2020, que inclui um conjunto de palestras; e um curso em regime webinar, que se desenrolou ao longo de seis sessões, entre Junho e Julho de 2020, com várias palestras por sessão, seguidas de debate.
Sendo este um tema absolutamente incontornável e uma preocupação central dos juslaboralistas neste momento, competia à APODIT proceder a uma reflexão séria e aprofundada sobre ele. A obra que agora se edita é, pois, o resultado dessas reflexões.
Nela são debatidas as profundas e diversificadas projecções que a pandemia sanitária está a ter nas relações de trabalho, o modo como o sistema laboral tem (ou não) sido capaz de lidar com elas e os novos desafios que neste contexto têm sido colocados aos regimes laborais e aos actores laborais. Assim, os textos que integram a obra versam temas tão diversos como a relação de trabalho e a crise COVID, as virtualidades e as limitações do teletrabalho no contexto pandémico, as dificuldades acrescidas de tutela da privacidade no mesmo contexto, a necessidade de adaptação dos regimes do tempo de trabalho e as novas faltas por motivos ligados à pandemia, as dificuldades acrescidas de conciliação entre o trabalho e a vida familiar e de exercício dos direitos de parentalidade em contexto de confinamento e de trabalho à distância, os regimes de lay- off e as restrições ao despedimento em ambiente pandémico e as projecções da epidemia na contratação colectiva e no sindicalismo.
Como tem acontecido nesta Colecção Estudos APODIT, esta obra resulta dos contributos dos prelectores que intervieram no Seminário e no Curso sobre o tema. Impõe- se assim um agradecimento a todos, pela generosidade na aceitação do convite para participarem naqueles Encontros, e também pela disponibilidade para verterem em texto as suas reflexões sobre o tema, num espaço de tempo muito curto e em benefício de todos os cultores das matérias laborais.
