APRESENTAÇÃO

O Anuário de História do Direito cuja publicação agora se inicia, é a primeira revista em língua portuguesa editada em Portugal dedicada ex professo à historiografia jurídica não romanística.
Ao ocupar uma área ainda não preenchida, assume o desejo de trazer para a realidade editorial portuguesa um domínio científico já presente em outros espaços nacionais.
O projecto não é resultado de uma decisão recente. Desde a criação do THD (Centro de Investigação em Teoria e História do Direito) da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa e posteriormente do IURIS, a edição de uma revista dedicada à matéria foi frequentemente objecto de reflexão. Nessa análise, para a qual muitos dos membros do IURIS contribuíram, foram sendo sucessivamente debatidos aspectos do projecto, até se atingir um momento a partir do qual o respectivo abandono ou concretização eram já as únicas alternativas possíveis. A opção pela segunda corresponde ao passo agora dado.
O propósito do Anuário é ser instrumento de divulgação junto da comunidade académica e do público interessado, da investigação que vai sendo realizada na área histórico jurídica pelos investigadores associados ao IURIS e, em geral, pelos que nela queiram divulgar o respectivo trabalho
científico.
A despeito da sua ligação a um Centro de Investigação universitário foi desde o primeiro momento pensado com propósito mais amplo, qual seja o de servir em geral a investigação realizada neste domínio, no âmbito cultural cujo denominador comum é o uso da língua portuguesa. (...)
